Brilliant Brokers

As the professional body for the education business partnership sector the IEBE knows that at the heart of effective partnerships are ‘brilliant brokers’ – people and organisations with the knowledge and skills to bring both partners together in mutually beneficial relationships.

There is much already happening in the world of work-related learning which is to be celebrated. Over 550,000 work experience placements are organised annually with over 300,000 employers involved across the country. Opportunities for young learners are more interesting and innovative, and evidence shows successful work-related learning can have a real impact on young people’s motivation, aspiration and attainment.

But there is more to be done.

The National Council for Educational Excellence (NCEE) made five sound recommendations which the Institute for Education Business Excellence fully supports. But there is a particular role for the IEBE in supporting and encouraging ‘brilliant brokerage’, and IEBE members are keen to continuously strive for the highest standards in their work.

The IEBE is supporting its members to achieve the Award for Education Business Excellence, a new award managed by IEBE which was approved by the Department for Children, Schools and Families in May 2008 which accredits organisations to the DCSF National Standard for EBPOs.

Membership of the IEBE will help EBPOs to achieve and maintain a professional standard in their work.  Individual employees can also become members and develop their skills through a ladder of professional recognition.

Member Benefits for EBPOs

The IEBE offers advice, information and connections, supporting EBPOs to be ‘brilliant brokers’.  As a member, an EBPO will gain:

  • The opportunity to network with other professionals in brokerage, business and education
  • Updates on latest policy and developments in the work-related learning, diploma and enterprise landscapes
  • Access to virtual support, resources and guidance
  • Access to best practice, innovative case studies
  • Reduced rates for the IEBE annual conference and employee training opportunities
  • Public recognition for your commitment to improving quality standards
  • Inclusion in the online contact directory
  • A voice for the profession with government, influencing policy and decision makers

IEBE organisational membership is very reasonably priced and scaled according to the size of business. Fees range from £240 to £1,500 per year.

Employees can also join as individual members for the introductory rate of £25 for the first year.

Although the IEBE is a very new organisation, it is built on the strong foundations of the National Education Business Partnership Network.  Tailored support programmes and a ladder of professional recognition are currently being developed for employees.   Above all, individual members will be joining a network of professionals with expertise in ensuring better outcomes for young people through work-related learning.
