A major project has been initiated by Thames Water for Creative and Media Diploma students in Hounslow, in partnership with The Business Links Team at Hounslow EBP.

They are developing a water efficiency programme to support schools in lowering their water footprint and/or achieving Sustainable Schools, Eco-Schools or Sustainable Learning Accreditation.

 

The students are supported by Rosslyn Stewart and her colleagues from Thames Water. Hanif Khan from Video Shoot Productions, a small independent film producer, is working closely with the students and developing their technical skills.

 

This is a real project for the students with a demanding timescale, a steep learning curve for all of them.

 

An interactive web tool is being created which will contain advice on how schools become more water efficient through technological and behavioural change. The web tool will be supported by a series of short films and these are currently being created by the Creative and Media Diploma students from Heston Community School and Lampton School.

The feedback from the students has been very positive and the teachers are very enthusiastic as this project delivers many aspects of the Diploma course in an exciting way. We look forward to sharing the results of the project with the National Network in December.
